In GENERAL, How Much Do Other Providers Charge for Website Design?

It’s hard to get a solid price range for a web design project without contacting lots of web design providers and asking for quotes. Most will answer – “It depends”, and that is true! Prices vary quite a bit depending on the features you need, yet they still do fall within a general range.

These are prices that I have found researching the web. For example; A Simple, Custom-Designed Website can range anywhere from $400-$10,000. Mid-Sized Custom-Designed Websites usually range from $10,000-$20,000. A Simple E-Commerse site will cost $7,000-$15,000 and a Mid-Sized E-Commerse site will usually be around $15,000-$40,000. You can even get into highly complex sites that would cost over $200,000.

Can You Get a Custom Site for Less Than $1,000?

Yes, but you probably won’t like what you’re getting. Around the lowest price you’ll find for an entire custom website will be $400-$500, which will almost certainly come from overseas. Those who are doing these low cost websites are pushing out thousands of very, very low quality sites, and they will likely do little to help your business succeed.

You could DIY (Do it Yourself), which we would recommend HIGHLY over paying for a cheaply done site. There are several good tools out there to do this. Still, even with the best tools, a DIY website will be very time consuming and most often will end up costing you a lot of lost time, energy, and yes, money. Don’t get us wrong, We’re all for DIY… but unless you have lots of time on your hands, you are extremely patient, and are reasonably technically minded, we would not recommended it. How Much Do We Charge?

A great way of illustrating what a website would cost is by describing the common types of websites that we build. These prices are among the best that we can find for the quality and features that we are offering.

For clarification, in all of these examples we are assuming that the client will provide the following assets and we will perform the following tasks:

One Page/Landing Page Website:

These are one page websites, sometimes called a “landing page” because people will land on this page when they click on an link from other websites, social media or email.

These websites usually have one simple goal; to motive the visitor to purchase a product, fill out a form, call a number or download a file. All content on this site is focused on having the visitor complete this one task.

Costs for this type of website can range from $3,000 to $10,000+ (30-100 Hours) depending on the scope. Projects that are well defined from the outset tend to be on the lower end of the range, and websites that require a lot of strategy and definition will cost more – even if they are only one page long.

Small Business Informational Website:

This is the most common type of small-business website. It usually has under 20 pages. The types of content areas you will typically see on the sites are; Home, About, Team, Mission/Vision, Services, Press, Testimonials, Blog, News, Contact. This website is focused on promoting the brand, marketing business services, and providing information. We usually design this type of website using WordPress as the framework.
